42nd newly appointed Olubadan gets staff of office
A staff of office was on Friday presented to the newly appointed Olubadan of Ibadanland, Lekan Balogun by the Executive governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar were among the dignitaries who graced the occasion, CAPITAL POST reports.
The Olubadan was a former gubernatorial candidate of the defunct Nigerian Peoples Party (NPP), but which he couldn’t realise his governorship ambition as a result of the 1983 Military coup that swept away that republic.
Since that coup, Lekan has been lying low politically, until the advent of democratic governance in 1999 where he contested for Senatorial seat and won
Other dignitaries in attendance were the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar; Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan; and Ambassador of Republic of China to Nigeria, Cui Jiauchun, among many prominent personalities.
