2023: Permsec in Lalong’s gov’t joins governorship race
Permanent Secretary on Special Duties and intergovernmental Affairs, Mr Sunday Garba Biggs in Governor Simon Lalong administration has on Wednesday declared to contest the Plateau governorship seat to succeed his boss come 2023.
Mr Biggs was Director of Protocol to former Governors Joshua Dariye, Jonah David Jang before Lalong promoted him to the position of Permanent Secretary Government House and also Special Duties and intergovernmental Affairs.
Mr Biggs while declaring his intention in his ward Mangu Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday said he has tapped from wisdom, expertise and knowledge of former Governors Dariye, Jang and the present Governor Simon Lalong and is well equipped with experience to offer himself as the next Chief Servant leader of Plateau State.
“It is an honour for me to stand before you today to make my intention known, First, I lay no claim to no one but God who has seen me,the son of a peasant to rise to the pinnacle of the civil service career.
“From a humble beginning in the civil service, by dint of hardiwork and commitment to the service of of our state and people,I rose to the position of Permanent Secretary. In the course of my work and growth in service, I have been privileged to work with technocrats and public officers.
“I make bold to say I have learned a lot from our leaders, past and present.
I have tapped from their wisdom, expertise and knowledge and equipped with experience to offer myself as the next Chief Servant leader of Plateau State.
Biggs added that work has given him the opportunity to interact with captains of industry, top technocrats, diplomats and a cross section of top political leaders in the country which has positioned him with the understanding and knowledge of issues and dynamics of developmental governance as well as social, economic and infrastructural re – engineering.
He disclose to thousands of supporters who had gather to receive him in Mangu that if elected governor of the state he will focus on Peace and Enhanced Security, Agriculture, solid Minerals development and Mining as well as Social Services and critical Infrastructure
“If given the chance to serve my dear state, I will present to our great people equality and a level playing ground for all,irrespective of tribe and religion. Plateau belongs to us all and together we shall make it great.”
While Responding on behalf of the All Progressives Congress APC, Chairman APC Mangu Local Government Hon. Ladan Abdullahi Garkuwa described the official declaration Mr Sunday Garba Biggs to contest for Governorship of Plateau State as dream come true.
He said Mangu Local Government APC has resolved to present Garba Biggs as the only governorship candidate from Mangu Local Government Area.
“Mr Sunday Biggs is the best candidate Mangu APC will present for Governorship race because he knows the road to Government House Rayfield, he has work with several governors and has the experience”.
According to him, APC in Mangu is fulfilled with the declaration of intent for Governorship contest by Mr Biggs.
Also Speaking the State Publicity Secretary of the APC in Plateau State Hon. Sylvanus Namang said Mangu Local government of the state has been anxiously waiting for the governorship seat for the past 40 years and said they will work hard with prayers to ensure that 2023 Mangu produce the next Governor to succeed Lalong.
According to him, APC has taken over the State.
Hon. Nanang however call on those yet to register for voters card to immediately do so as to participate actively in the 2023 elections.
