CCT begins trial of ex-Kuje Councillors for alleged failure to declare assets
The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) will on Wednesday commence the trial of some ex-Councillors of Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory for non-declaration of assets before and after their tenure of office.
In a statement which was made available to journalists by the Director of Legal Services of the Tribunal on Tuesday, Mrs Bintu Abubakar said the defendants are to be arrested by the police and produced in court on the strength of a Bench Warrant issued by the Tribunal having failed to appear at the last adjourned date in spite of having been duly served.
They are to be produced for arraignment on the 9th of March 2022 at the court hall of the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Jabi, Abuja. Other cases for mention on the same date are cases involving public servants from Benue state and another batch of ex-Councillors from Kuje Area council.
The statement issued states as follows:
“We hereby notify you that the Tribunal shall have its next court sessions for the Month of March, 2022 at the Code of Conduct Tribunal Court Hall, Head Quarters Complex, Daki Biyu Jabi District, off Solomon Lar way, (After Jabi Motor Park) Abuja……….”
It is expected that several cases involving serving and ex Public servants from FCT and Benue state would be adjudicated this March and April 2022.
