Insurgency: Borno Dep Gov commends DSS efforts on security issues
Borno State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Umar Usman kadafur has commended the Directorate of State Security Services for discussing wide range of security issues with regard to the lingering insecurity crisis in the north-east during their quarterly security conference held in Maiduguri over the weekend.
The State Deputy Governor made the commendation when the State Directorate of SSS for the North-East sub-region paid him a courtesy visit in his office after the end of their quarterly conference meeting which ends up in Maiduguri recently.
The Deputy Governor said Borno state Government on its part is making serious effort to resettle IDPs back to their respective communities as well as receiving the repentant Boko Haram insurgents side by side with the military for rehabilitation and subsequent resettlement where necessary.
The Deputy Governor reiterated the determination of the Borno State Government to continue to assist security personnel to rid the state and North-East in general with all forum of crimes and criminalities.
Earlier, the Chairman of DSS forum, Alhaji Babagana Bulama, Mni, Director DSS Adamawa state, said the forum have discussed wide range of security issues during the conference especially on menace of hard drugs, youth restiveness and political thuggery, insurgency, banditry and kidnapping among others while at the end have came up with resolution.
Some of the resolution of the conference were a call for joint operation, strengthening of internal security outfits as well as offensive operation to end insurgency among others.
The forum commented the recent efforts made by the Borno State Government where some political thugs were trained and empowered this they said is a light step taken to end political thuggery in the state.
The forum also commended the recent successes achieved by the military in the fight against the insurgency and urged them to sustain the tempo.
