Hushpuppi: Abba Kyari to be extradited to US
At last, the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, DSP Abba Kyari is to be extradited to the United States for a trial over his role in cybercrime by his friend Abas Ramon popularly called Hushpuppi to the tune of $1million.
Kyari had been indiçted and was declar d wanted by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and a formal request for extradition was made to the Federal government.
The request was approved by the Nigerian government on Thursday.
The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami revealed this
when he filed an application before a Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja for Kyari’s extradition.
The AGF explained that there was a request by the Diplomatic Representative of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja.
He further examined that Nigerian government was surrendering DCP Kyari after due process and good intention and never for political reasons.
It would be recalled that in April 2021, a jury filed an indictment against Kyari with the approval of a U.S. District Court and demanded Kyari stand trial for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering and identity theft.
