Breaking: Confusion in Senate as electronic voting machine stops working
The Senate Chamber has gone rowdy on Tuesday immediately Senators commenced electronic voting on the Constitution Review which the machine stopped working.
Senate President, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan who was disappointed suggested that lawmakers should go ahead, if they would trust him.
He called on Senators to have confidence in him, but Senator James Manager stressed the importance of Constitution and suggested for deferment till when the voting machine is rectified.
James Manager representing Delta South Senatorial district suggested that Constitution Review is very important and critical and if it is not working, tomorrow is another day.
But Lawan insisted that votes must continue, saying: “Whatever other additional arrangement can be made, do it and lets begin votes today.
“I don’t have the guarantee that this thing will work even tomorrow. If it means bringing agents, let’s bring agents to handle our votes.”
