Demolished hotel: Hotelier maintains innocence, says Wike unfair
Prudent Hotel owner, Promise Gogorodari who’s hotel was demolished by the Rivers State Government on Sunday has denied violating any law to warrant the demolition of his structure.
Reacting through a telephone conversation, Promise who is based in Lagos expressed disappointment that governor Nyesom Wike rushed the demolition of his hotel without giving him opportunity to explain his side of the story.
He said the appropriate thing state government should have done was to carry out investigation before taking action.
Promise maintained that the hotel was an investment that takes care of his family and other people around him that was demolished, while describing the situation as unfortunate.
“I am based in Lagos, but I am not in the right frame of mind to speak now. There is nobody who will not feel bad about this.
“It is a hotel that I built for the past seven years. The demolition of hotels is a setback to the state in terms of investment.
“That was an investment that was taking care of my family and relatives and people around me. There was no fair hearing before the demolition took place. With this, many people are out of jobs.
CAPITAL POST reports on Sunday that Rivers State governor personally supervised the demolition of two hotels which alledgedly flouted lockdown directive.
