The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has reassured the Borno people of President Buhari’s administration’s continuous support, encouragement, security and development.
VP Osinbajo states this Thursday while speaking at the Shehu of Borno’s palace when he paid homage to the royal father, Shehu of Borno during a one day state visit to Borno, State.
He said: “I am pleased to be in the state and extend the greetings of President Muhammadu Buhari to the government and people of the State.”
He also appreciated the achievements of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum saying, “it is a special pleasure to be here in Borno. I bring warm greetings from President Muhammadu Buhari who has a special place in his heart for Borno.
“It’s always excited to visit Borno. Borno proves how Nigeria can be. I have seen a steady hand of progress right from Kashim Shettima.
” Zulum proves it is possible to do incredible things with very little. Every time I make speech in reference Zulum. He is committed and has shown commitment,” Osinbajo said
He further commended Governor Zulum for the great encouragement he is giving to Nigerians and the political class that it is possible to do good things.
The VP said many regulatory authorities of businesses have been provided to Borno to ease business, noting the MSME can give leverage to small businesses to do well.
He said he will be back again to th state as part of federal government efforts to encourage and boost small and medium scale business men and women while thanking the Governor for his hospitality
Osinbajo recalled that federal government have inaugurated committee by PMB to manage defectors in Boko Haram which he said if well manage will end Boko haram, disclosing that over 66 thousand refugees of Nigeria in Cameroon and many thousands in Chad have been repatriated.
Speaking, Gobenro Zulum also solicited for the federal governments support in ensuring the repatriation of Borno refugees presently taking refuge in neighbouring countries back home.
He raised concern of the committee over the number of people in refugee camps and appealed to the VP to ensure the refugees are returned back home within one year.
Zulum noted that the VP used to call him all the time to commiserate with Borno government and people after any attack by Boko Haram while appreciating the VPs concern and support to the State.
In his remark, the Shehu of Borno, HRH, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El Kanemi thanked the VP for his visit to the State and concern for the people and government of Borno while appealing to the federal government to resume exploration work at the Lake Chad Basin and provide jobs opportunity to the large unemployed youths in the state.
He pledged continuous support to the federal government and policies of the Buhari’s administration while praying for peace, unity and stability of the country and appreciated all the supports and concerns of the federal government to the state, particularly, security and empowerment Programmes among others.
