Ex-Kogi governor denies being member of new political party, despite attending its launch
Former Kogi State governor, Alhaji Idris Ichalla Wada reportedly denied media report that he has changed party for the newly launched political party known as The National Movement (TNM) founded by Senator Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso from Kano State.
Wada, a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Kogi State who lost second term governorship bid to the late Prince Abubakar Audu in November, 2015 election as incumbent governor said he was only invited as guest in the occasion and doesn’t necessarily meant to be a member of the new political group.
Senator Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso who was a two governor of Kano State floated the party and launched it in Abuja on Tuesday as a third force ahead of 2023 general election.
Captain Wada’s media minders said, the ex-governor was worried when the report blew open late Tuesday after the event dre
in Abuja.
According to them, they contacted the Kogi State PDP Executive to confirm if Captain Wada has left the party and now a member of TNM which was purportedly reflected on the new party’s list of members and also contacted the ex-governor himself which he denied saying: ”I am not a member of TNM, I attended as guest, am still a bonafide member of the great umbrella body, the PDP.”
Kogi State PDP treasurer, Barr. Alfred Bello was also quoted to have said, “it was a good development for the PDP”, while he boasted that the party remain unshaken.
PDP in Kogi State called on all members to disregard the mention of H.E Capt. idris Wada as TNM member, while asking “H.E Alhaji Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso and his colleagues to retrace their steps and see how they will join hands to strengthen PDP to kick out APC, describing the action as giving tactical unnecessary and needless failed-hope to the dead APC.”
