Breaking: Zamfara Assembly impeached Deputy governor

Deputy governor of Zamfara State, Barrister Mahadi Aliyu has been impeached by the State House of Assembly.

The impeachment followed adoption of a motion which was on Wednesday presented by the Majority leader of the House, Hon. Faruku Dosara representing Maradun 1 State Constituency.

Earlier today, the Justice Haladu Tanko panel presented its report of investigation on the alledged gross misconduct and abuse of office.

Speaker Nasiru Muazu, who presided over the sitting, directed the Clerk Saidu Anka, to conduct a voice vote on the impeachment of deputy governor Mahadi Aliyu from office.

When the impeachment motion was put to voice votes by the Speaker, twenty lawmakers out of twenty-two voted for the deputy governor to be removed from office.

CAPITAL POST recalled that the impeached Deputy governor declined defecting to the All Progressives Congress, APC, along with governor Mohammed Bello Matawalle.
