FCT Council polls: Aggrieved party supporters booed Minister, Hajiya Ramatu
The Minister of State for FCT, Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani came under verbal attack by angry party supporters at an event to issue certificate of return to winners of FCT Local Government Council elections.
The event held in Abuja on Friday and no sooner than the female Minister stood to deliver her speech, that party supporters began to murmur and from murmuring to noise that disrupted her speech.
Immediately she advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to devise an alternative where people will vote manually if there are technical glitches, the noise grew in Hausa, “karya me ba ma so”, which means “It’s a lie, we don’t want it”.
The Minister’s attempt to pacify the angry crowd didn’t yield results, while they keep saying, ‘Ba ma so’, meaning “We don’t want”.
Senator Philip Aduda representing the Federal Capital Territory who was present at the occasion reportedly left the event out of anger for reasons not immediately known.
As the event takes pandemonium dimension, security personnel could not control the rowdy party supporters and minister later dropped her microphone.
She went round to exchange pleasantries with some dignitaries before leaving the venue with her entourage.
The INEC REC, Alhaji Yahaya Bello later presented the certificates of return to the chairmen of AMAC, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Bwari and Kuje area councils.
