Badaru restates commitment to Kano-Jigawa Professional Forum 10-Year Strategic plan
Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has constituted an implementation committee for the Kano-Jigawa Professional Forum 10–year Strat
egic Plan in response to the COVID -19 Pandemic (ANNOBA PROJECT under his deputy Mallam Umar Namadi and the Permanent Secretary, Government as the Committee’s Secretary, Malam Adamu Gurun Gabas.
Badaru in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant (Print Media), Ahmad Muhammad Danyaro made the disclosure in Dutse on Saturday at the presentation and launching of the 10-year Strategic Plan (ANNOBA PROJECT) report by the officials of the forum led by its Chairman, Dr Shamsuddeen Usman at Council Chamber of Government house Dutse.
The governor reiterated his commitment for the full implementation of the report including all governance structure even beyond his administration. He added that the interim report submitted in January 2021 guided the state executive council in taking key decisions which included allocating over 48 percent of the total budget to the key human development sectors of education and health in the 2022 budget which was far above the UNESCO recommendation and Abuja declaration respectively.
“On the implementation committee to be chaired by the Deputy Governor is saddled with the mandate of giving general direction to the implementation of the report and the report will be submitted to all relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies who will have report back within a week with their actionable plan on the report”. Badaru stated.
Earlier in his speech, Chairman of the Forum, Dr Shamsuddeen Usman who was a former minister of finance disclosed that the ANNOBA Project by the KJPF was conceived out of the desire and providing lessons from negative effects of the pandemic and turning crisis into opportunities for the socio-economic growth and development of Kano and Jigawa State.
The Chairman commended governor Mohammed Badaru and for the acceptance of the interim report submitted last year and commitment to sustaining the tempo for the actualization of the initiative.
He further stated that the project made critical assessment of the prevalent situation of the pandemic in the two states and for the first time 150 professionals of diverse endeavours from Kano and Jigawa State were involved in the project .The project covers eight work streams namely; education, health, governance, social and economic, infrastructure and logistics, technology,legal and regulatory and media and communications.
In his address at the presentation, the Deputy Governor, Mallam Umar Namadi noted that the strategic plan was in line with the strategic vision of the Badaru’s administration to put the state on a solid development platform through a coordinated and sustainable development strategy.
Dr Shamsuddeen Usman was accompanied by the Director General of the Forum, Kuliya Zubair, Arch Ibrahim Haruna and Mallam Baba Dantiye.
