FCT Area Council’s final results
Following the Federal Capital Territory Area Council’s election on Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finally released the results on Sunday.
The result which was released on Sunday evening, 13th February, 2022 showed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won four Council areas, out of six, while the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) won two.
Break down of the results are as the follows:
1. ABAJI – PDP
2. AMAC – PDP
3. BWARI – PDP
4. GWAGWALADA – APC
5. KUJE – PDP
6. KWALI – APC
However, in Gwagwalada, there were reported election irregularities.
Moreso, election observers and some Civil Society Groups (CSOs) commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for relatively free Council polls.
An observer said: ”I observed the just concluded chairmanship election in FCT in Gwagwalada Area council and I can authoritatively state that the election was massively rigged in favour of APC as voting were allowed to continue until 9pm when thugs snatched away some ballot boxes and fake result sheets were later used to announce results of those areas.”
He called for the cancellation of the election as a result of alledged rigging and irregularities in the night of Saturday perpetuated by thugs working for APC.
The observer said, the people of Gwagwalada Area Council would be robbed, if the election result in favour of APC is allowed.
