Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), the military spike operation in Benue state has neutralised the second most wanted man in the state, Terungwa Igbagwa alias Orjondu.

Reports gathered said that Orjondu was caught in the house of his mistress, after the troops surrounded the house.

Change of Name

Efforts to get officials of OPWS to confirm this met with a brick wall.

However, the operation that led to the killing of the militia was jointly carried out by OPWS and troops of the Special Forces in the state.

In a statement signed and issued by Major General John Enenche, the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Abuja said the “special commando operation” of the men deployed in Zaki Biam carried out the raid

According to him, the operation carried out on a criminal hideout off Zaki Biam/Katsina-Ala highway, “led to the neutralization of Terugwa Igbagwa alias Orjondu.

“It would be recalled that Orjondu is the second most wanted criminal kingpin next to Gana in Benue state.”

“He was responsible for kidnappings, armed robberies, assassinations, gun running and other criminal activities around Katsina-Ala, Ukum and Logo LGA’s for many years.”

“Items recovered from him include one AK 47 rifle, one locally made rifle, one AK 47 magazine with 30 rounds of 7.62mm special and some charms.”

“The Military High Command congratulates Operation Whirl Stroke for their exploits in recent times.”

However, Independent reliably learnt that the militia was cornered in the house of his mistress whose identity is yet to be ascertained.

Locals in the area said no sooner had Igbagwa entered into the house of his mistress than the troops were alerted of his whereabouts.
