Governor Bala panics as unidentified helicopter hovers over forest in Bauchi

Governor of Bauchi State, Abdulkadir Bala Mohammed has raised the alarm over unidentified helicopter hovering over Lame Burra-forest in Toro Local Government Council of the State.

A suspicious helicopter was said to have been operating in the airspace of the area amid heightening insecurity which has defied all known approaches, a development that is giving the governor and residents restlessness.

The governor expressed his fear to the newly posted Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Special Operation Command (SOC) of Nigerian Air Force, Bauchi, Air Vice Marshal Tajuddeen Yusuf after giving him audience at the Government House.

The governor revealed that he has credible intelligence reports from security operatives and the locals that there was a helicopter which has been hovering in that area of State, which its mission is not known.

He called on security operatives and the locals to intensify surveillance so as to identify the mission of helicopter, stating that they would do all they could to protect lives and property of the people of Bauchi State.

According to him, the men and officers of the Nigeria Airforce are needed more in the surveillance, given the level of insecurity pervading the country.

Bala said he would consolidate the effort of security agents in keeping Bauchi State safe, stressing that his administration appreciated the gains recorded in the fight against various forms of criminality across the state, adding that his government has spent huge sum of money to ensure adequate provision of security.

Earlier in his speech, the newly deployed Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Special Operation Command (SOC), Bauchi, Air Vice Marshal Tajudeen Yusuf noted that the Command was aware of the unidentified helicopter, saying that they have commenced investigation with a view to apprehend the situation.

Air Vice-Marshal Tajudeen Yusuf who commended the State Government for its concern over the security threat in the state, called on the public to assist the command with useful information to discharge its duties diligently.

He assured that the Command will work closely with the state government as well as other security agencies operating in the state in order to ensure adequate safety for the people of the state.
