Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East and gubernatorial hopeful, Albert Bassey Akpan has expressed hope that God will intervene despite the endorsement of Umo Eno by governor Udom Emmanuel as his choice successor in the 2023 governorship race.

Akpan told his followers to keep faith, saying that the governor was misled into endorsing one of his commissioners.

Change of Name

The lawmaker expressed this on Tuesday while on consultation visit to
Itu council to insisting that he was still in the race to govern Akwa Ibom State.

According to Akpan, governor Udom. Emmanuel is a good man and should be pitied and not vilified, given that some selfish persons around him have misled him to do the wrong things.

The politician encourage the people of Itu/Ibiono to keep faith despite that a governorship from the Federal Constituency was not picked and endorsed, noting that it was God that has the final say.

“Honestly speaking, I believe that governorship position of Akwa Ibom come 2023 is there for us to take. Akwa Ibom people stand for equity, justice and fairness. Etinan and Uyo federal constituencies have had their turns.

“I can assure you that God will give the next governor to Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency. I believe that the same God that blesses the work of our hands will bless us this time around. All we need to do is to pray for the will of God to be done.

“My charge to all of you is that we shall remain steadfast and peaceful. We will not allow anybody to intimidate us. I want to assure everybody that power belongs to God. That same God will fight for us,” he said.
