Barrister Solomon Dalung has counselled the the National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to contest for their Senatorial districts,.instead of presidency.

Mr. Dalung who was the former Minister of Youths and Sports in President Muhammadu Buhari’s first tenure said politicians who are above 65 years should forget contesting for executive seat because of its rigours.

Change of Name

He stated this in Abuja when the proprietor of Abuja-based popular Film and Theatre Arts Network Television, Prince Adewole Adebayo declared his intention to contest presidency in 2023.

“I believe that anyone who is 65 years and above should redirect their energies in becoming senators instead of running for presidency.

“They must vacate every executive position for the young ones. We have squandered their future since 1999 and we’ve not succeeded in building a future for them.

“I don’t want this endless ballgame of organising the future for the young ones. The fact is that we don’t want anyone who is 65 years to aspire for presidency in Nigeria.

Two popular presidential aspirants, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is 75 years now, while, Ahmed Bola Tinubu is about 70, hence, Dalung argued that Nigeria don’t need those old enough that would only delegate responsibility to those they couldn’t supervise because of their age.

Meanwhile, Prince Adebayo during his declaration said, President Muhammadu Buhari is “the last card of the political elite” who have been running Nigeria.

He called on electorate to choose between men with big money and those with big ideas that could transform the nation in 2023, adding that Nigeria should look beyond APC and PDP in their own interest.
