Osun 2022: Gov Oyetola submits nomination form
The Governor of the State of Osun, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola has submitted his nomination form at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abuja.
Addressing journalists on Thursday evening after the submission, Oyetola said his administration recorded tremendous achievements in less than four years in office.
According to him, because of the cordial relationship he created with leaders at various levels in the state, many are calling on him to continue the good work he already started.
He said, “In the area of good relationship with the royal father and artisans, we have done well with all of them and that’s why we have a lot of endorsements coming in from most of them asking me to continue.
“These are things that clearly indicate that we are really on the right course.”
The governor further stated that so far, his administration have been able to deliver on their campaign promises, especially on security and welfare of the people adding that, under his watch, these two have been the major priority.
“I thank God that some three and half years ago I was here to address you and I have reason to thank God that so far so good, we’ve been in government for about three years three months or so, we’ll be exactly four years in November. We made some promises and I believe to a very large extent, we kept all our promises in spite of the paucity of funds.
“The primary purpose of any government is security and welfare of the people, so we take security and welfare of the people as a matter of priority. In the area of welfare we’ve been paying salary and pension on a monthly basis since the inception of this administration.
“ We’ve actually supported our people in the area of food. We have the Osun Food Support Scheme that takes care of the vulnerable. Every month, we support up to thirty thousand vulnerables using the world Bank Social register.
“In addition to that, we’ve done so much in the area of health. As I speak we’ve revitalised not less than 320 primary health centres across the entire State. The intention is to ensure that our people have access to health care without necessarily traveling far distance, the intention is to have one Health Care Centre per ward, we have 332 wards.
“ In addition to that, we try to ensure that we fix three of the General Hospitals for referral purposes and we are working on others. We set up the Osun Health Insurance Scheme to take care of the vulnerable to ensure that nobody in the state will have the pain of not having access to healthcare simply because he or she doesn’t have the money,” Oyetola said.
He assured of not relenting in giving his best to the state if given opportunity to do more.
“In all these areas, we believe relatively speaking, we have done fairly well and we believe if we are given the opportunity again, it will continue. I will continue to improve on what I have been able to do despite the paucity of funds, ” he added.
Gov. Oyetola was accompanied to the All Progressives Congress (APC) national secretariat, by his wife, Kafayat Oyetola, his son Femi Oyetola and some supporters.
