World cancer day: Histopathologist advocates intensive cancer awareness
As the globe marks Cancer Day, in every, February 4, a histopathologist consultant with the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Dr. Lawal Mudashiru, has advocated on the need for all hands to be on deck in championing awareness campaign on cancer as the first step to closing the gap of the disease.
He disclosed this while exchanging views with journalists in his office at Lafia, Nasarawa State capital.
Dr.Lawal, continuing that if a society is aware of the effect of cancer disease at the right time, it will avert numbers of deaths recorded as a result of the deadly disease.
“Everyone is at the risk of contacting cancer and measures were being taken to reduce the effect drastically.
The Histopathologist expert confirmed that cancer effects can affect every part of the body and everybody is at risk of having cancer as long as we are alive.
He outlined some factors as risk of contacting cancer, just as he urged people to avoid certain things such as tobacco smoking and other things to stay clear from lung cancer as well as distance self from multiple sex partners and unprotected sex among other things.
“Cancer is almost impossible to cure and capital intensive so it is better prevented. He added.
