Borno NSCDC applauds PACHA, MCN peace building, conflicts resolution initiatives

Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Borno State Command has commended Peace Ambassadors Center for Humanitarian Aid and Empowerment (PACHA) and MCN British Council for their peace building, conflicts resolution and community policing security services to the society sequel to the 13 years Insurgency in the state and north east at large.

The State Commandant, NSCDC , Borno State Command, Alhaji Musa Farouk who made the commendation in his office when the peace Ambassadors delegation paid him a courtesy visit on Sunday, also informed the delegation who were on advocacy visit to the command that , the Commandant General of NSCDC is aware of their services and acknowledged the presence and efforts of the Peace Ambassadors in complementing the peace restoration efforts and security as stakeholders in the state.

The Commandant further urged them to keep it up while appreciating MCN and British Council for supporting the state through PACHE, saying, “when we have peace, we will have less crime rate in the society Security sector will have less stress, investors will be attracted to the community and economy of the society will thrives “.

“Employment opportunities will be created and the Judicial system will have less work which will translate to reduction in crime rates,” Farouq said.

While concluding the delegation round the Civil Defence Command office complex Maiduguri, the Commandant assured them that the command will render all the necessary support that is required to achieve the project’s objectives by way of doing the needful whenever it is requested

In his remark the President of the Peace Ambassadors Center, Ambassador Ahmed Shehu briefed the NSCDC Commandant on the activities of the Center which includes community engagement in peace building, mediation, reconciliation and dialogue aming others

Amb Shehu solicited partnership, , collaboration and support of the NSCDC for successful implementation and sustainability of the project initiatives while commending the command for their peace building innovations in the community, popularity known as , Alternative Disputes Resolution (ADR) .

He noted that efforts have ensured peaceful resolution of conflicts through reconciliation and dialogue, which have really reduced the cost of ensuring justice and bringing harmony among warring parties in the society.

The Program Manager of PACHA, Engr Sadiq Waziri explained to the Commandant the ongoing Program and objectives of the Peace Ambassadors Center which is being implemented in partnership with Managing Conflicts in Nigeria (MCN), a British Council European Union funded project titled,” Initiatives to improve security service delivery, community policing and state policy on peace and security in Borno state”

Engr. Sadiq also disclosed that the project has three arms which is voluntary policing sector, community accountability forum and policy dialogue which are all geared towards attainment of sustainable peace and security in the community (Borno state).
