Detained VON DG is Buhari’s sychophant in trouble for alledgedly embezzling N1.3 billion – South East APC group

As reactions continue to trail the detention of Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu over alledged embezzlement of N1.3 billion, the National Coordinator of the South-East APC Presidency Project 2023, a project of South-East APC Integrity Group, Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu, said the embattled DG is known for double dealing.

The Director General was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alledged misappropriation and embezzlement of the sum of N1.3 billion and got detained in the anti-graft facility for interrogation.

Reacting through a statement on Sunday, the.South East APC group described Mr. Osita Okechukwu as a Buhari’s sycophant, this activities was slavishness and nauseating, pointing out that his activities has found him out.

Mr Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu stressed that Mr Okechukwu was however, yet to hear tried in Court of competent jurisdiction by the EFCC, but his arrest and detention was rude shocking.

The statement said: “First, the way Osita mouths “Muhammadu Buhari”, anyone would think he was a fanatical believer in President Buhari’s anti-corruption drive.

“Second, if N1.3 billion was misappropriated at a fourth rate Federal Government agency like Voice of Nigeria (VON), what remains there?

“Third, with the amount of food Osita eats from both PDP Enugu State Government and APC Federal Government, why did he need to steal?

“Even, since I met Osita in 2002, when he started singing Buhari’s praises as a parrot would, he has – through that curious body called “Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP)”, where he was Publicity Secretary – eaten from State Governments, even those of parties that are not of his claimed party.

“I say “claimed” because Osita has never believed in and truly belonged to any party. His own is just to eat from any plate”, Dr. Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu said.

He noted that he has never like the VON Director-General for allegedly being a double agent.

“To me, as someone who has fought against the scourge of PDP in Enugu State – from the governorship of Chimaroke Nnamani till date, I have never liked Osita as a double agent since that 2002 both of us have more or less been in the same party, starting with ANPP.

“He claimed to be in ANPP, but was eating from PDP Enugu State Government.

“Osita identified Buhari (not the party) as his vehicle to political relevance, and the name “Muhammadu Buhari” stuck to his lips as if held there by super glue.

“To most discerning people, Osita’s Buhari sycophancy and slavishness was nauseating, but that was precisely what he needed to be noticed and patronized by people who needed anything from Buhari and certain Northern elements.

“That he contested for Enugu West Senatorial seat and Enugu State governorship wearing the Buhari toga yet never won even his polling unit never mattered to him, because winning was never his intention but using candidacy to collect money from anywhere and everywhere.

“Osita is indeed a strange politician. A politician who is not interested in his or his party winning election has to be strange. Even Buhari knew this and barely tolerated Osita and his sycophancy.

“This became clear even to Osita when Buhari finally won presidential election in 2015 and became sworn in as President of Nigeria”, Dr. Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu narrated.

He further noted that “To Osita’s “dismay”, Buhari did not consider him worthy of Ministerial appointment, a treatment made worse by what Osita considered the “ultimate humiliation” of late Abba Kyari importing Osita’s foreign-based and totally unknown townsman to be made Minister representing Enugu State when Osita had nothing.

“That “ultimate humiliation” drove Osita insane as exhibited all traits of a wounded and desperate lion at his usual Transcorp Hilton, Abuja hangout location.

“Osita had considered Ministerial portfolio his birthright for years of Buhari sycophancy.

“Later, even to become appointed Director General of Voice of Nigeria, a fourth rate government agency, was after much blackmailing, begging and shading of tears.

“Yet, as DG VON and generous perks of office, Osita would not leave PDP-controlled Enugu State Government House alone.

“On many occasions, I quarrelled with him over his immoral attachment to that House and his betrayal of his own party (APC currently) because of that unholy attachment.

“Apparently, Osita did not consider loyalty to APC and his legitimate VON privileges enough for him.

“I must pray that his selfishness, greed and treachery have not driven him into thinking that theft of public funds is also his entitlement as a Buhari sycophant.

“We await EFCC’s findings and next line of action on the matter”, the South East APC group said.
