VON Director General, Osita Okechukwu detained for embezzling N1.3 billion
The Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr Osita Okechukwu has been detained by the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) for embezzling the sum of N1.3 billion.
He alledgedly abused and conspired with others to misappropriate the public funds to the tune of N1.3 billion.
Okechukwu arrived at the headquarters of the anti-graft agency at Jabi area of Abuja at 1.00pm in response to EFCC’s invitation and was immediately detained.
The source close to EFCC said Mr Okechukwu was undergoing interrogation over his involvement in the massive fraud.
“He is still in custody as we speak,” a source stated.
The EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the invitation of the VON chief executive, but declined to provide further details.
