Breaking: Ooni of Ife bans night vigil, party, prayers in Ile-Ife
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi on Saturday ordered ban on night vigil, party and prayers by Churches and mosques in Ile-Ife.
His Imperial Majesty concerned by the high rate of robbery in Ile-Ife, Osun State, also announced restrictions for residents of the ancient community.
The order said, Ile-Ife should be locked down from 11.00 pm and reopened 5.00am the following day.
Speaking through his Lowa Adimuda of Ile-Ife, Abraham Adekola, said Oba Ogunwusi with other kingmakers as well as other Chiefs arrived at the decision in the interest of residents.
He said: “The Imperial Majesty, Oba Ogunwusi has ordered lockdown from 11 pm to 5am in Ife township from today. No vigil, night party, night prayers in all churches and mosques, etc.
“The restrictions order was arrived at after the kingmakers with other chiefs held a meeting on Saturday and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi who was not around endorsed the order.
“This is because the activities of robbers in Ile-Ife are on high which is causing sleepless nights among the residents.
“The police with the local securities are now in the community to ensure security. Anyone caught in within these hours will be treated as such. The restriction is till further notice.”
