2023: Senator Okorocha joins presidential contest
Senator representing Imo State West Senatorial district, Rochas Okorocha on Wednesday declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election.
Okorocha revealed intention through a letter he sent to the Nigeria Senate which was read on the floor of red Chambers on Wednesday by the Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan.
Towards this, Rochas said he would address a press conference on Monday 31st January, 2021 in Abuja, where he would explain in details compelling him to contest the presidency.
Okorocha who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) hails from the South East geopolitical zone and had been a three time presidential contestant.
Okorocha who is from South East Nigeria is one of the prominent Presidential aspirants from that zone. There has been ongoing agitations from the zone for an Igbo Presidency.
He was a former governor of Imo State and a second timer to the Senate.
