Military nab political thugs with dangerous weapons on way to Ekiti for governorship primaries

The Nigerian Army have arrested political thugs while heading to Ekiti State for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries.

The thugs who are members of Oyo State National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and members of Oyo State Park Management were dangerously armed with guns, cutlasses and charms and we’re heading to Ado-Ekiti to disrupt the PDP primaries slated for Wednesday.

Change of Name

They were intercepted at about 3.00am on Wednesday by the military who keeps vigil as the thugs wanted to use the dawn period to sneak into Ado-Ekiti to work for their hirers.

They were arrested at Ita Awure/Efon Junction, Osun State in large numbers.

They were mobilised from Oyo State to ensure disruption of the PDP primary election exercise and to further stop emergence of a particular aspirant in today’s 2022 governorship election.

Oyo State governor, Engr Seyi Makinde was said to be supporting the former governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni while the former governor of Ekiti State and controversial politician, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose and Ekiti female Senator, Olujimi Biodun have their choice as governorship aspirant.

Though some thugs who were arrested are staff of Oyo State Park Management, an agency of Oyo State CAPITAL POST who not confirm their interest that made them to have been involved thuggery in Ekiti State governorship.

It couldn’t be confirmed, at who’s directive they were heading to the Ekiti battle ground.


The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, had earlier deployed additional policemen from Abuja to Ekiti State to complement personnel on the ground in the state to ensure hitch-free primary elections of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress.
