Buni launches school feeding programmes, distributes 100,000 textbooks, others to schools

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has launched school feeding programme with chicken and egg being added to the daily menu of students of all state government boarding secondary schools and colleges in the state.

The governor launched
the distribution of 100,000 textbooks and laboratory equipments to the state government secondary schools and colleges in the state.

While launching the two programmes in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, Governor Buni said the procurement and distribution of the textbooks and laboratory equipment for all the secondary schools and colleges across the state.

He added that it was also aimed at fulfilling government’s electioneering promises made to the people to revive the education system and strongly improve on the basic educational standard and quality of education in the state by establishing sound and strong educational foundation for the children in the quest to boost development of education in the State.

“I am particularly delighted with this occasion marking the launching of the Maiden Education Day and Enhanced School Feeding Programme and Distribution of 100,000 Text books and modern laboratory equipment to secondary schools in the state.

“I am particularly impressed with the usage of modern instruments and application of a combination of conventional and innovative techniques in teaching and learning processes which the Ministry invented in our schools.

“I am excited that we can today proudly tell our stories of success on the account of hard work and commitment of the state government following the declaration of State of Emergency on Education by this administration,” Bunu said.

The governor further said that the declaration of emergency has yielded impressive performance by students in national examinations while expressing his satisfaction with the level of performance of the education sector, saying “we have strong reasons to celebrate the impressive achievements recorded in the basic and secondary education.”

Governor Bunu also declared 1st July every year as “Education Day” in the state to be celebrated in appreciation and recognition of development of education in the state.

In his remark, the Yobe State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Muhammad Sani El Bature while commending the support and encouragement of the governor to the education sector, described the successes recorded so far by the present administration in the education sector as unprecedented.

“Education in Yobe state has progressed or moved to many levels/steps compare to the past far ahead, and the future of the state is very bright and prosperous”, El Bature said.
