The Incorporated Trustees of Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA) on Saturday made an appeal to Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to present a staff of office to the Atta Igala, His Royal Highness, Mathew Alaji Opaluwa to enable the monarch commence activities without delay.

The call was made amid growing kidnappings and murderous incidents in Kogi State, particularly in the Eastern Senatorial district of the State.

The Igala Socio-Cultural group, an apex body of all Igala Cultural groups also called on the governor, to tackle the insecurity challenge before it degenerates further.

The group made the call after a meeting of the Incorporated Board of Trustees in Lokoja, Kogi State capital which was chaired by Dr. Omakoji Simeon Oyiguh.

In the communique issued after the meeting which was signed by the Chairman and Secretary, Dr. Omakoji Simeon Oyiguh and Hon. David Ina Ogu, the ICDA said, the governor was known for his dexterity in tackling security challenges, saying the Eastern part of the State has been under siege of kidnappers that requires his immediate action.

The body further explained that the Atta Igala would complement the governor’s effort at tackling insecurity if the staff of office is given to him immediately, while they commended the governor for the peaceful appointment of the first class monarch.

Part of the communique read: “That the Incorporated Board of Trustees resolves to appeal to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, to deploy his usual dexterity in security matters to contain the situation in Kogi East.

“The board also observed that the paramount traditional ruler of Igala Kingdom, the Atta Igala when saddled with appropriate instruments would be of substantial assistance in complementing the efforts of the Government.”

The body lamented the growing insecurity of kidnappings for ransom in the Eastern Senatorial flank, adding that the Atta has also expressed deep concerns over insecurity in the kingdom.

“The Incorporated BOT expressed worry over the worsening insecurity in Igala land especially with kidnapping and murder cases.

“That the Incorporated Board of Trustees resolves to fully comply with the directives of HRM on the issue of ICDA in the best interest of the Igala people.”

The ICDA further call on Igala sons and daughters to take interest in the security and well-being Igala land.
