2023: APC planning to compensate financier with Senate ticket in Ondo – Source

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ondo State, Barrister Morayo Lebi would be compensated with a Senatorial ticket to represent Ondo South Senatorial district in the National Assembly in 2023.

To this end, the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress was currently making considerations ahead of the general election.

The development was as a result of his contributions to the party, even as the source said, Barrister Morayo Lebi has contributed to the growth and development of APC in Ondo State immensely.

According to the source, who spoke with CAPITAL POST over the weekend, he said the lawyer has intervened in several ways financially at a time the party was stranded, adding that his contribution cut across all the 17 Local Government Council Areas of the State.

A source who is a party member pleaded anonymity and went further to disclose that Mr Lebi has also been carrying out empowerment programmes despite not being in government, saying if he becomes a Senator, he would do more.

He said, his contribution to the Ondo State Chapter in of APC during the current State party Chairman, Mr. D.I. Kekemeke has drawn him to the party members across the State who now said, he should be compensated.

“His support for the party under the leadership of D.I Kekemeke during the national convention of our party was huge. At a point when our delegates were stranded, he was the one who rescued us. He sent enough money to us which covered all our expenses then.

“During the last governorship election in the state, he made contributions to all necessary logistics needed by all the local government areas in the Southern Senatorial District.

“It is a known fact that he has not just started supporting our party as a member, he has been carrying out various empowerment programmes, not only in his senatorial district, South but across the three senatorial districts in the state.

“Though the contest for the party’s tickets had been thrown open, some of our leaders are deliberating on seizing this opportunity to reward Barrister Lebi for his huge contributions to the success of our party, particularly n the last gubernatorial election.

“Therefore, it is not out of place for the leadership of the party to consider compensating him with the party’s senatorial ticket for the 2023 general elections.

“Some of our leaders are putting heads together and considering presenting Barrister Morayo Lebi to our amiable governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to consider the advice.

The source added that Barriater Lebi has been consistent and loyal to the governor and the party,.despite being tempted by other political parties.

The party insisted that he would be compensated, noting that the governor would be briefed on the contributions of the lawyer.
