Again, unknown gunmen bombs Police station, free detainees

Unknown gunmen on Thursday invaded Ideato South Local Government Council of Imo State, Police Station, bombed the station and freed detainees.

The Police Station which is in the headquarters at Dikenafai came under attack by the hoodlums who came in large numbers wielding dangerous weapons.

A source said, they immediately detonated explosive devices which destroyed the administrative office, the Divisional Police Officer’s office, and the reception desk.

However, it couldn’t be confirmed if any Police Officer on duty was killed in the attack.

But, Ideato South LGA Interim Management Committee, Chairman, Pastor Bede Ikeaka, expressed shock at the incident, while lamented incessant attacks in the State.

Imo Police Command spokesman, Michael Abattam, a Chief Superintendent of Police, said he was yet to be briefed.
