The paramount ruler in Gindiri Chiefdom, Mangu Local Government Council of Plateau State, HRH, Charles Mato Dakat who was kidnapped early Sunday has regained freedom.

CAPITAL POST reported that the monarch was kidnapped by unknown gunmen when they stormed his palace around 1am on Sunday.

The kidnappers on the following day communicated with his abductors and demanded for N500 million ransom.

It wasn’t clear if ransom was paid wholly or in part, but family source confirmed his release in the early hours of Friday.

The family attributed the Monarch’s release to the miracle of God, adding that he was hale and hearty.

He said, “God has answered our prayers. His Royal Highness, Da Charles Mato Dakat, has been released. He is in good condition of health.

Asked how much ransom was paid to the kidnappers to secure the release of the tradional ruler, the source said, “All I can tell you is that life is more than money. Thank you all for your prayers, encouragement and support. To God be the glory, great things He has done and will continue to do.”

Plateau State Police Command has neither confirmed the Monarch’s release nor argued it, but was yet to issue any official statement.
