JDPC and Observatoire Pharos hire a Junior Observer in charge of redacting weekly watch reports
Presentation of the organizations:
Justice, Development & Peace Caritas (JDPC) is the organization in charge of implementing the social policy of the Archbishopric of Jos. It is highly involved in peacemaking and dialogue operations in Jos and its surroundings.
Observatoire Pharos is a non-religious and apolitical French-based organization. Its headquarters are in Paris. Its mission is to inform about cultural and religious pluralism and support pluralism defenders throughout the world.
Both organizations are committed in Nigeria in the mark of the project “Incubator of Pluralism Actors in the Sahel” for the benefit of social cohesion actors in the country. They hire 2 Junior Observers for the whole project duration (February 2022-October 2024).
The Watch:
The project includes the redaction of a watch report by two Junior Observers on a weekly basis. These reports will be sent by email to a subscriber list and on social networks. It will gather religious, community-based and cultural news occurred in Nigeria, project briefs and fake-news decoding.
Missions
As a Nigerian Juniors Observers, you will have to redact cultural and religious pluralism watch reports every two weeks. As described above it will be sent to subscribers and spread on social networks. You will be supported by JDPC staff and a Referent Observer, specialist of these topics in Nigeria.
You will have to:
– Select at least ten articles from different sources (religious, media, academic, civil society…)
– Redact analytic reports in English from these sources – Report the project activities
– Select and decode fake-news that spread on internet and social networks
– Edit a watch report on an online platform (WordPress)
– Spread the watch report Required profiles:
– To be in accordance with JDPC and Observatoire Pharos’s values
– Law, International Relations, Mass Communication, Political or Religious Sciences, or any other pertinent background
– Good knowledge of social cohesion, identity-based and pluralism topics in Nigeria – Excellent English redacting skills
Conditions
The Junior Observers’ mission will be done in remote work and at JPDC’s headquarters. Junior Observers commit to advise JDPC in advance in case of unexpected interruption.
Juniors Observers have a personal direct access to Observatoire Pharos’s website in which they publish their weekly reports.
Juniors Observers will be trained in Jos at the end of January 2022. They will join of group of 30 young observers worldwide who share advices and good practices, with the JDPC and Observatoire Pharos’s help.
The monthly remuneration will be done through copyright contracts, with a rate of 50 EUR by published report (all charges included).
