Amaechi vows to commit suicide, if I become Rivers governor – Wike
Rivers State governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike said, the Minister of Transportation has acted coward for not committing suicide, having became governor of Rivers State.
Wike who was the former Chief of Staff to Rotimi Amaechi when he was the governor of Rivers State have been at each other’s jugular in an epic political battle, saying that Amaechi didn’t want him to takeover from him as governor, while he did all he could to truncate his ambition in 2015.
Nyesom Wike stated this when he was conferred with honourary Doctorate Degree alongside the former military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar by PAMO University of Medical Sciences, PUMS, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Saturday.
He said, Amaechi has been defeated politically in Rivers State.
Wike said: “Our contest was as intense and jugular as typical political enemies.
Ultimately, I won and prevailed over him,”
“Midway into his first tenure, I got the signal early enough that I have become a foe and pencilled down to be politically brought down, extinguished, or terminated.”
According to him, Amaechi forwarded his name to the former President. Goodluck Jonathan’s government reluctantly.
“He (Amaechi), therefore, worked twice as hard behind the scene to truncate my confirmation by the Nigerian Senate but failed because God said otherwise.
“Moving forward and when he noticed my ambition to succeed him as the governor of Rivers State, he immediately drew the battle line and vowed that I could only succeed him over his dead body.
“But he acted the coward by refusing to commit the suicide he had promised if I became the governor of Rivers State. Thank God he chickened out and did not die.”
Nyesom Wike is serving a second term as governor of Rivers State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
