Food insecurity: FEMA decries lack of proper database in the country
The Director General of the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency,(FEMA ), Alhaji Abbas Idriss, has decried the lack of proper data collation in the country.
He stated this when he was conferred with an award for, “immense contribution to Food and Nutrition Security in the FCT,especially the IDP settlement by the cadre harmonize taskforce in Abuja on Thursday.
Alhaji Idriss attributed food insecurity in the country in part to the absence of a proper database.
He urged Nigerians to imbibe the culture of maintaining a credible database in order to enhance planning.
In a statement which was signed by the head of Public Relations Unit, Mrs Nkechi Isa and made available to CAPITAL POST in Abuja on Thursday, quoted FEMA boss,as hailed the agency’s database, noting that it was a joint effort by credible sources like National Emergency Management Agency and International Organisation for Migration .
Earlier, the Coordinator of the Cadre Harmonize Cell FCT, Dr Olateju Omole assured on his organisation’s commitment to ensuring that everyone is properly educated and enlightened about food security.
He applauded FEMA for it’s contribution to the success of food and nutrition security in the FCT especially in internally displaced11 persons settlements.
