FEMA DG, other Africans honoured for contributions to development

The Director General of the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency, (FEMA), Alhaji Abass Idriss was among other prominent Africans honoured in appreciation of their contributions to the fatherland.

The event which was sponsored by Supremacy Magazine on the occasion of its 2021 Awards, tagged ‘Supremacy Icons and Achievers was held on Wednesday in Abuja.

Change of Name

In an opening remark , the publisher of the Magazine, Princess Abigail Abalaha said the event was part of activities to mark the 3rd anniversary of the Magazine and also to motivate and encourage the awardees to do more.

In a welcome address, the Trinidad and Tobago High Commissioner to Nigeria, Wendell VC. De Landro, who noted that Nigeria had strong cultural ties with his country, underscored the need to explore this ties to boost tourism in both countries.

Also speaking at the occasion, the chairman and an awardee, the Sapeyi of Garki,Dr. Usman Nga Kupi described Nigeria as a peaceful country and an investors haven. The Royal father urged ethno religious agitators in the country to embrace dialogue as there can be no meaningful development in an atmosphere of crises.

Receiving the Award of Outstanding Chief Executive Officer of the year, the DG FEMA. Alhaji Abbas Idriss said it was dedicated to the vulnerable people of the FCT and his team

The Vice Chancellor of the university of Abuja, the Shehu of Bama, the Chief Registrar of the FCT High Court and the Secretary General, United Towns Agency for North and South Cooperation were among those honoured.
