Spokesman for the Nigerian Police in Kano, Abdullahi Kiyawa has confirmed arrest of the suspect, but said he was arrested in Daura in Katsina State while on the run with the vehicle.
The Policeman explained that on November 30, the car owner who resides in Badawa Quarters in Kano lodged a complaint that a car washer operator absconded with her Honda Accord 2017 model car.
“On the 30/11/2021 at about 1400hrs, a report was received from a resident of Badawa Quarters Kano, that, on the same date at about 1200hrs, she took her Motor Vehicle, Honda Accord 2017 Model, valued Eight Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N8,500,000:00) to a Carwash located at Maidile Quarters, Kumbotso LGA, Kano State.
“When she went back, she discovered that the motor vehicle and the carwash cleaner are nowhere to be found.
“On preliminary investigation, the owner of the Carwash was invited. He claimed to have hired the service of one Abdullahi, without knowing his identity.”
Police said, the car owner left her car in trust with the car washer at his cleaning centre where he made away with the said customer’s Motor Vehicle.
The suspect has made confessional statement to have stolen the car with intention to sell it.
