2023: Tinubu dumps Ganduje, hold strategic meeting with Shekarau
The Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Abuja had on Tuesday last week sacked the governor Umar Abdullahi-led faction of the All rights Congress and recognise those of Shekarau.
Tinubu while recognising the Court pronounced faction, had a close door meeting with Ibrahim Shekarau, a former governor and Senator representing Kano Central, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau in Lagos on Sunday.
A source close to the host said, the meeting was at the instance of Tinubu who invited Shekarau to Lagos for a strategic discussion that has direct link with his 2023 presidential ambition.
The said, Tinubu has been worried over the political imbroglio in Kano which the State governor has eventually lost control.
Senator Shekarau’s relationship with Tinubu, it was claimed deepened, when he (Shekarau) as a founding member of APC signed a merger agreement on February 6th, 2013.
Shekarau signed for ANPP, Tom Ikimi signed for ACN, Garba Muhammad Sani signed for CPC and Senator Annie Okonkwo signed for APGA.
An FCT High Court on Tuesday , presided by Justice Hamza Muazu gave a judgement upholding the parallel congress held by the Ibrahim Shekarau led faction that produced Ahmadu Haruna Danzago as Chairman, voiding the Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje faction that had Abdullahi Abbas as Chairman.
Similarly on Saturday at the 21st anniversary of Mambayya House in Kano, Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar addressed Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Danzago as Kano APC Chairman, rather than Abdullahi Abbas who the Kano State governor endorsed.
Tinubu has quickly aligned himself with the faction to avoid taking back seat when it comes to canvassing votes from Kano, particularly that the APC may throw its presidential ticket open to all aspirants from the South.
Although details of the meeting has not been made known, there are insinuations that Tinubu is already dumping Abdullahi Ganduje with the belief that the machinery of the party in the state is now with the Ibrahim Shekarau group with anticipation of delivering Kano to the party in 2023 general elections.
