A youth group under the ages of Coalition of Progressive Youth Groups in Nigeria and Diaspora (COPY-ND), has declared that there is no faction or leadership crises in the All Progressive Congress, APC.

This is in reaction to the recent announcement by another youth group known as Progressive Youth Movement (PYM) on daylight hijacking of the caretaker and extraordinary convention planning committee with the leadership of Prince Mustapha Audu.

Addressing journalists during a press conference in Abuja, Director of the coalition, Dr. Aminu Abdullahi Isyaku said the party is having only one Caretaker party leadership in place, led by Governor Mai Mala Buni as appointed unanimously by the NEC of the party.

Isyaku also stressed the need to correct the negative impression created by the careless actions of the Progressives Youth Movement, PYM.

Recall that on Monday, the PYM announced a new national caretaker committee with a mandate to reconcile aggrieved members before its national convention slated for February 26, 2021.

The Director General stated that
Nigerian youths in politics are not desperate and disrespectful to constituted authorities.

“We have painstakingly analysed the political events in the last few days in the youth constituency of the party and wish to state without ambiguity, that the COPY-ND is not part of this grand plot to destabilize the party under the able leadership of his excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni, and also to disrespect President Muhammadu Buhari’s support for the party’s leadership that he led to put in place.

“Therefore the so called new leadership announced by this sponsored desperate youth group, PYM does not represent the views of the teeming youths that form the foundation.

“Our message is simple: The APC is a party of rules and due process and too critical to the Nigerian Youth, that cannot be distracted by a mere press briefing and reckless announcement of new leadership arbitrary by a sponsored group that is alien to our coalition and the party”.

The group urged the ruling party to investigate the root cause and personalities involved in this unconstitutional power grabbing in the party and sanction them if they are truly members of the party who acted against the law.

The group comprises of; Youth leaders representing various youth groups in the country and in Diaspora, APC United Kingdom chapter, grassroots mobilisation for Buhari-Osinbajo, APC youth league, Buhari support groups, Youth mission and initiative for African development and grassroots mobilizers for better Nigeria initiative.
