Former Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Hon. Yusuff Lasun has accused the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of playing a dirty role in the disputed All Progressives Congress 2018 governorship primary in Osun State, which he was now compensated.

Hon. Lasun who contested the 2019 governorship of Osun State and lost to the incumbent, Gboyega Oyetola said Omo-Agege made himself available to be used to edge him out.

He said, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) now completed the dirty job which Omo-Agege initiated, saying that the All Progressives Congress (APC) didn’t win the election, but which the electoral umpire declared the party winner.

The ex-lawmaker stated this while interacting with reporters at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja, on Thursday.

Yusuff further revealed that the former governor of Zamfara State, Abdul’aziz Yari was initially detailed as Chairman of that primary election committee, but didn’t show up in Osun for the exercise.

Yari, he said, didn’t want to do anything against his will, given that the former governor knew he was popular and that’s is why he refused to show up.

“That’s left to you journalists to find out why he did not come but let me give you a glimpse; the man knew I was popular but he was instructed to go and do a particular thing but he told them that he had run an investigation and discovered that the deputy speaker was too popular. That’s why Yari did not come to Osun during the APC primary election in 2018.

According to him, Omo-Agege assumed overnight Chairmanship of that primary election and manipulated him out. He added that the Osun issue is one of the reasons Omo-Agege is the Deputy Senate President today as a way of compensation.

He, however, said, this time around, he was prepared to go the whole hog, noting that “nobody born of a woman” can stop him from contesting.
