Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja on Thursday threw out Kogi State House of Assembly’s motion ‘suo motu’, for trying to stop the Contractor’s evidence from being admissible.
The State House of Assembly is owing the Contractor, Messrs Ce Tripple F Global Services Limited to the tune N15. 78 million which it cannot pay for the past five years.
The plaintiff has sued Kogi State House of Assembly claiming the sum of N15,780.920 including damages for breach of contract agreement by the defendant.
But Kogi Assembly suffered defeat on Thursday before Justice J.J. Mejebi led State High Court as Defence Counsel, attempted to railroad the Court into de-recognising hard evidences tendered by by the plaintiff’s Counsel.
Earlier, the plaintiff in the charge before the Kogi State High Court is praying that the court compel the Assembly to pay the said money which was owed for the supply of LG TV 43, Central Stabilizer, Thermocool Fridge 185ltr, Thermocool Fridge 195Ltr and 36000 BTU Royal Floor Air Conditioner to the Assembly in October 2016.
Engr. Chris Edime, is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ‘Ce Tripple.F Global Services Limited and had told the court that the items were supplied to the Assembly when Alfa Umar Imam was the Speaker of the house while the current Speaker, Prince Mathew Kolawole was the Majority Leader and the current Majority Leader, Abdullahi Bello was the Minority Leader.
“Shortly after crisis broke out in the Assembly that removed Imam as the speaker, Kolawole emerged as the leader of the house.
Prince Mathew Kolawole and other principal officers then were all aware of this transaction that we supplied all these items to the Assembly and we installed them.
“But surprisingly, we raised an invoice for it to be paid, up till now, nothing has been done. There was a time we were told to write letter to the Clerk of the House in which we did on several occasion.
But nothing has been done up till this moment that is why we have taken the matter to court” Edime told the Court in October 2021.
