Imo Police arrest Apostolic Church Pastor for kidnapping Catholic priest
Operatives of the Nigeria Police, Imo State Command have arrested Pastor Izuchukwu Anobola for leading a notorious kidnap syndicate that abducted a Catholic Priest for ransom.
Pastor Anobola who was on the run to Lagos State after he received N1.5 million as part of the ransom from Fr. Fidelis Ekemgba was nabbed through intelligence gathering.
Imo State Police Command said Pastor Izuchukwu Anobola operates a very deadly kidnap gang, saying the Fr. Ekemgba, after he was kidnapped was held for over seven days and made him to pay a ransom of N5 million to them before he was released.
Imo State Commissioner of Police explained that the arrest was made by the anti-kidnapping unit of the command after which he was paraded.
The kidnapped priest who is age 45, is in charge of St. Peters Catholic Parish in Umunohu Amakaohia in the Ihitte/Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State.
The Police boss explained that he was double-crossed and whisked away by his abductors.
Commissioner of Police applauded his men for an excellent job, saying that he would continue to make the State uncomfortable for criminals.
Speaking to journalists, Anoloba said that he got N1.5m from the ransom the priest paid them.
He said, “I am a pastor with Apostolic Church of Christ in Lagos. I got N1.5 million from the kidnap of the priest. I never knew I would be arrested. I regret my actions because I am now a disgrace to the body of Christ and my family.”
