Breaking: Ex-Nigeria Senate President is dead

Reports reaching CAPITAL POST indicates that the former President of the Senate in the first Republic, Dr. Joseph Wayas is dead.

He has been battling with ailment in a London hospital for quite sometime and finally passed on a few minutes ago.

It wasn’t clear, the specific illness he has been battling with, but the governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, has confirmed in a statement on Thursday.

Ayade’s statement described the passing away of Dr. Joseph Wayas as a monumental loss not only to the State, but Nigeria as a whole.

The statement was issued and signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, Ayade, adding that the late democrat cannot be forgotten in a hurry.
