The Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu on Tuesday lost in Court a battle to compel Abia State University to restore his Bachelor of Science Degree.
The certificate was withdrawn by Abia State University over alledged admission breach, but Imo State Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri upheld the withdrawal.of the certificate, saying the former governor of Abia State flouted the admission processes.
A High Court sitting in Owerri had earlier granted judgement in favour of the former governor of Abia State.
Justice Oludotun Adefope-Okojie presided over Tuesday’s Court of Appeal that sustained the withdrawal of Senator Kalu’s certificate and went further to nullify the judgement of a high Court that restored the Bachelors’ degree certificate of the former governor.
Kalu’s Degree was withdrawn in 2013 over fraud allegations and admission breach.
However, the former governor who is now a serving senator later approached a State high court in Isikuato in Abia state to challenge the allegations and the subsequent withdrawal of his degree by the university.
Ruling in favour of the Abia State University, the appeal court held that the state high court in Isikwuato lacked jurisdiction over the matter.
