Breaking: Ondo Assembly Speaker, Oleyelogun arraigned in Court
Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was on Monday arraigned the Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun to Court over financial malfeasance.
Presently, the Speaker is present in person to answer charges and would be docked any moment from now.
He was being arraigned following a petition by the embattled Deputy Speaker, Hon. Irogu Ogundeji who revealed that the Speaker and other officials of the State Assembly did collect money for a seminar in Lagos which they never attended.
The Deputy Speaker.said, the Speaker rather shared the money with the officials.
Ogundeji in the petition urged the EFCC to investigate the fund allegedly collected and shared by the speaker with a view to recover it and pay back into government coffers.
However, Security operatives of Olokuta Correctional Centre have prevented journalists from effectively covering the Court proceedings.
A Squadron Commander, who manned the entry point, insisted that journalists could not be allowed in because there was an order from Abuja that all correctional centres should be on red alert to prevent jailbreak.
