Youth group partners to showcase ‘made in Nigeria’ products in US.
A notable youth organization known as the Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitisation (CYMS) says it is partnering with the Organisation of Youth – in International, Trade and Commerce (OY-ITC) and BUY – Naija Projects to assist in the implementation of the Nigeria – US Trade and Commerce Summit 2022.
CYMS responsibility is to render technical assistance, recommendations, documentation of selected participants & sensitisation of the project which is scheduled to take place in Houston Texas USA in February 2022.
CYMS made this known in a statement signed by its Director General, Mr Obinna Nwaka on Friday in Abuja.
According to Nwaka, the move is part of efforts to encourage diversification of the country’s economy and boost it’s revenue through showcasing the rich indigenous products to the United States.
The Youth Organisation said it accepted the partnership to assist teeming youths in revenue generation and to also reduce their over dependence on white collar jobs.
The acceptance letter which was signed and presented by Mallam Shamsudeen Haruna; the CYMS’s Director, Planning & Strategy was received by Mr Chinedu Amadi; the President OY – ITC and Amb Dr Ngozi Judith Omeche; Director, BUY – Naija Projects on Thursday 25th November 2021 at the Federal Ministry of Trade & Investment.
The Director General noted that the project is in line with CYMS objectives and expressed optimism that young entrepreneurs who are into production of Made in Nigeria products and other services will have an opportunity in their lifetime to showcase their God given talents and products in a far away United States of America.
He assured that his organisation will do everything possible to ensure the project is sustained, meet the expectations of relevent stakeholders and encourage entrepreneurs after the exhibition to become successful in thier chosen areas of specialization.
Nwaka, who went further to share the experience of past exhibitions / capacity building in collaboration with Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and other International bodies where entrepreneurs were mobilized from different States to participate said he realised that young people are desirous to contribute to the growth and economic activities of the country through skills but often lack of conducive environment and sense of belonging or patience to acquire neccesary documentation from the regulatory bodies.
He emphasized on the need to waving some “bottle neck” requirements from prospective participants willing to showcase their products and readiness to accelerate support for serious talented entrepreneurs without much resources for the programme.
Also, President; OY- ITC,
Mr Chinedu Amadi and Dr Ngozi Judith Omeche of BUY-Naija expressed gratitude for the partnership and assured of their organisation’s commitment to making the project a success.
Other CYMS delegation present during the event were, Director ICT,Mr Maurice Chima and Stanley Uche Ogbonna.
