Niger Federal lawmaker sensitizes youths on danger of drug, roll out empowerment

Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago has organized a 3-day sensitization programmes for youths of his federal constituency.

The sensitization programmes was aimed at taking the youths out of the streets to better their lives for meaningful ventures that would make them useful to the society.

Change of Name

The youths have been engaging themselves in all sorts of social vices ranging from thugery, restiveness and attacking themselves with dangerous weapons resulting to the lost of lives and property.

Speaking in an interview with CAPITAL POST in Minna Wednesday, the chief of staff to the Hon. Umar Bago Alhaji Abdulhakeem AbdulRahaman said a total of 800 youths from three wards out of his federal constituency are to benefit from the sensitization programmes in the first phase.

He explained that worried by the spate of violent attacks on some youths of Angwandaji, Limawa, Maitumbi and Tunga areas which hitherto led to loss of lives among the youths, the federal legislature decided to organise the programmes to educate them on the danger of their activities.

He pointed out that the youths who were into drug and other related social vices were to be educated on the danger of drugs to their health.

He stated that the participants would be given some stipend to encourage them give more attention to the programnmes.

Alhaji Abdulhakeem noted that the sensitization programmes would among other things give them a sense of belonging and realized the implications of the danger of drug to their future and their lives, while he appealed to those that were not captured in the first phase of the programme to exercise patience assuring that they would be captured in the subsequent programmes.

He disclosed that after the programme, the participants would be put on watch to see how the sensitization programmes has improved their lives after which they will be empowered with some skill aquisition programmes to be self reliant.
