Bandits killed Zamfara ex-governorship aspirant
The former governorship aspirant in Zamfara State, Alhaji Sagir Hamidu has been killed by bandits on Kaduna-Abuja highway on Sunday.
Bandits blocked Abuja-Kaduna highway and opened fire on travellers and killed the ex-governorship aspirant.
Reports said, he was shot in broad day light at about 3.30pm around Rijana along the busy expressway.
A traveller who escaped narrowly explained that Alhaji Sagir Hamidu who a former FCT Director of Protoco was shot along other travellers, but couldn’t survive the gunshot wounds.
The report of bandits attack was also confirmed by a facebook user, who wrote of how he escaped being kidnapped, saying:
A Facebook user, Kabeer Gambo Rigasa, wrote: “ALHAMDULILLAH, ALHAMDULILLAH, Escaped Being Kidnapped Along Abuja To Kaduna Road Around 3:30pm Today.”
Meanwhile, bandits reportedly operated for more than one hour without challenges by security operatives, despite distress calls.

Numerous people have been attacked, killed and abducted.
