The Deputy Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Noheem Adams has been awarded the Lagos House of Assembly Lawmaker of the Year 2021.

The award was bestowed on him on Wednesday at the Independent Nigerian Parliamentary Excellence Awards held at the Sheraton Hotel in Abuja.

Change of Name

The award was organised by the Independent Newspapers in association with African Consolidated Analytical (Limited), a leading consultancy with a track record of helping clients identify the full range of uncertainties that arise from operating in frontier markets and guiding their journey to a more efficient, profitable and sustainable future.

Speaking shortly after receiving the award, an elated Hon. Adams representing Eti-Osa I, dedicated the award to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.

Expressing some of his legislative achievements, the Lawmaker said, “I feel Honoured and humble to be here tonight, in fact if I say I should list what I have done, it will take a lot of time. Sincerely when I came in as a legislator I was able to construct a building in Ajah Olomu Primary and Secondary School in Ajah, I was able to construct ICT centre. I was able to contruct boreholes in some communities like Ilaje, Oniru, Eti-Osa among others so that the people can feel the benefits of democracy more.”

“And when it comes to representation, I have been able to represent my people very well. I am accessable and available to them at all times.”

“We also have the issue of ocean surge happening currently in Alpha beach within that coastal line area, and I moved a motion concerning it. I want to thank the Speaker of the House of Assembly for given me the privilege to move the motion and the governor has started work on how to find a lasting solution to ocean surge.” He stated.

“So I have been able to move so many other motions, about nine motions in the Lagos State House of Assembly. I cannot start listing them now because of time” he said.

Commenting on youths in politics, Adams said, “To me I believe that the youths of today are capable of handling public offices. If you come to Lagos State House of Assembly, at least I can count up to 10 youths and they are doing well; they are representing their constituencies very well, people like Hon. Adewale Temitope, one the youngest legislators, Hon. Ajani Owolabi, Hon. Kasumu Adedamola amongst others. All these people I mentioned are not up to 40 years and they are representing their constituencies very well”.

Hon. Adams however expressed optimism that if the youths are given the opportunity to represent further, they will do more. He emphasized that the youths are ready to lead not only in the States but the country as a whole”.
