Sex starved Boko Haram insurgents abducts 25 girls in Niger

No fewer than 25 girls of marriageable age were abducted by the Islamic jihadist otherwise known as Boko Haram insurgents who invaded parts of Shiroro and Munya Local Government Areas in Niger State.

The insurgents reportedly stormed Kurebe community in Shiroro Local Government and abducted 25 girls in the early hours of Thursday.

Reports later filtered in after the girls, age 15 and 17 were abducted that the Boko Haram members will marry them in accordance with islamic injunction.

CAPITAL POST recalled that Boko Haram terrorists have informed parents in some communities in Shiroro and Muya local government that they should withdraw their girls from school for marriage or they will force them out from school and married them.

The jihadists gave strong worded instructions to some parents in early August, when they visited some communities in Munya Local Government informing parents to comply with their instruction or they will force the girls from their various schools for marriage.

The refusal of the parents to comply with their earlier instructions resulted in the action of the jihadists to invade Kurebe community and abducted the girls.

It was gathered that on their arrival in the community, the terrorists surounded the entire community forcing themselves into houses where they abducted the girls.

It was further gathered that the jihadists who were heavily armed evacuated some farm products from the huts before embarking on the abduction of the girls.

Already, the inhabitants of the community have relocated from their village and are taking refuge in Kuta town, headquarters of the Local Government for fear of further attacks.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello had some times in July, raised the alarm that the activities of some armed men suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents has been noticed in some communities in Niger State.

He explained that their presence were noticed in Mariga, Mashegu Munya and Shiroro Local Government Areas of the State.

He told Journalists that he has requested that the President Mohammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency prevail on the Army authority to come to the aid of the state with a view to dislodging the insurgents from the State.
