Late Brig. Gen. Zirkusu: Borno governor, Zulum donates N20 million to family
Borni State governor, Prof. Bagana Zulum has donated the sum of N20 million to the late Brigadier General Dzarma Nzirkusu’s family.
The governor on Wednesday personally led a delegation on a condolence visit to the family at Ribadu Cantonment in Kaduna, where he instructed the immediate release of N20 million to assist the fallen General’s family.
He instructed immediate release of the sum of N20 million to the family as part of Borno State’s contribution to the family.
In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau acknowledged the donation and explained that the amount will go to the families of troops who died alongside the General.
In the entourage of governor Zulum to late General Zirkusu’s family in Kaduna were the three Senators from Borno State, Kashim Shettima who was the immediate past governor of the State, Senators Mohammed Ali Ndume and Abubakar Kyari; the All Progressives Congress State Chairman, Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori as well as two members of the House of Representatives, Dr. Haruna Mshelia and Hon. Ahmad Jada.
While at the late General’s residence the governor commiserates with the family and lauded the soldier’s courage and his commitment to tackling insecurity in the North East, which the he added that the people of Borno would eternally be grateful to him.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Government announced an N2 million payment to the murdered man’s family.
Soon after Governor Zulum gave N20 million to the family, Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, announced the donation.
Kaduna’s support, according to Aruwan, was meant to complement Borno’s efforts to reach out to the late General’s bereaved family.
On behalf of the family and the Nigerian Army, Garrison Commander Brigadier General T. Opuene thanked the governor and his party for coming all the way from Maiduguri to see them.
