Civil Defence operatives intercepts Lagos bound vandalised rail tracks in Niger

A trailer loaded with 775 rail tracks suspected to have been vandalised by some criminal minded elements have been intercepted by men of the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The trailer was intercepted by the patrol team of the NSCDC along Mokwa road enroute to Lagos where the railtracks was to be transported to.

Already the driver of the trailer and a motor boy are now in the detaintion facility of the state command of the corps while the owner of the vandalised railtrack is now on the run.

Addressing Journalists at a news briefing in his office, Wednesday, the Commandant of the Corps in Niger State, Haruna Bala Zurmi said his men on patrol along Mokwa high way intercepted the trailer with the railtracks.

He explained that the tracks numbering 775 was said to have been vandalised somewhere in Gboko, Benue State while transporting the stolen tracks to a company in Lagos.

He stated that two of the suspects in their custody during investigation revealed that they were contracted by one Alhaji Aminu to convey the items to a factory in Lagos adding that the Command has launched a total manhut on the vandal that contracted them.

The Command according to the Commandant will continue to launch a total onslaught against criminal minded elements that were in the habit of vandalising critical national installations adding that the command his watch will make the state unbearable for vandals and their sponsors.

He warned that he will use all the instrumentals of the law within the command to go all out for vandals in the state stressing the need for them to steer clear from the or they should turn a new leaf in their own interest.

The state commandant of the NSCDC, commended the efforts of the State patrol team of the corps for their commitment in effecting the arrest of the vandals assuring that his command will continue to reward any of the officer of the Command for leave above board in the discharge of their responsibility.
He said the command Intelligence team are on the trail of the culprits currently on the with the view of arresting them after which they will be charge to court for prosecution.
